Abstract
Major features and considerations in the conceptual design of a 1,000 MWe(net)- class, deuterium-tritium fuelled magnetic-fusion baseload electric power plant based on the low-aspect-ratio (A < 2) spherical tokamak (ST) by the multi-institutional ARIES Team are summarized. Interest in this approach is motivated by the potential for high-beta plasmas with bootstrap-current fractions approaching unity. Key trade-offs and constraints of the study are explained. Keywords
