Abstract
Twenty-four patients with plasmacytoma of the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity were reviewed over a 40-year period. Men predominate by a 2.5:1.0 ratio. The nonspecific triad of epistaxis, rhinorrhea, and nasal obstruction are the most frequent symptoms. A tumor mass is always present. The determinate five-year survival in this series was 52.9% and was dependent upon extent of disease rather than local process alone. Only four patients had local recurrence and it is not a factor contributory to cause of death. We recommend surgery and radiation as the primary treatment in the absence of generalized disease. Keywords
