Abstract
The ferromagnetic transition temperature and the oxygen isotope effect in the doped manganites are evaluated using a model based on the dynamic Jahn-Teller effect on the bridging oxygen ion (the ion between Mn3+ and Mn4+). The diabatic representation is used to estimate the hopping time of the extra electron in the double exchange model. The transition temperature depends strongly on the Franck-Condon factor and, therefore, on the oxygen mass. Keywords
