Abstract
Under a contract with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Associations carried out a demonstration project to determine how health insurers could utilize in-place systems and personnel to make worksite high blood pressure control programs more available to employee groups. When this project was initiated two and a half years ago, effective worksite-based programs had been developed in academic settings and tested in industry. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut was selected by the national Blue Cross and Blue Shield Associations to serve as one of two demonstration test sites. The program is expanding to involve five additional Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans. Keywords
