Abstract
In studies of nonlinear optical (NLO) polymers, besides obtaining a thorough understanding of their nonlinear optical behaviour, it is necessary to characterize their linear properties. These are the real and imaginary parts of the index of refraction as a function of wavelength. A procedure will be described for determining these indices from measured and known optical properties of the individual components, that is, the polymer and the chromophore. Keywords
