Abstract
Cranial and postcranial anthropometric data were taken on 18 male and 14 female newborn Macaca nemestrina monkeys and compared with data from the literature on other species of Macaca. The females of every species are somewhat smaller in all dimensions than the males at birth. However, they are more fully developed than males in relation to the amount of growth needed to achieve the adult form, and therefore undergo less postnatal growth than males. Keywords
