Abstract
Magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, and specific-heat measurements have been made on a number of polycrystalline and single-crystal samples of Gd-rich Gd-Y alloys. It has been found (1) that samples with more than 30 at.% Y exhibit a helical structure phase, (2) that samples between 10 and 30 at.% Y exhibit two different Curie-Weiss regimes leading to "double" ferromagnetism, and (3) that samples with less than 10 at.% Y have Gd-like behavior. Keywords
