Abstract
Phosphorylation of erythrocyte membrane proteins by membrane protein kinases was studied in 10 normal subjects and 8 patients with hereditary spherocytosis. No difference between 2 groups of subjects was observed in the total phosphorylation, and, the phosphorylation of spectrin and components III and IV 5 in presence and in absence of cyclic AMP. Apparently, no deficiency of membrane protein kinase activity is present in hereditary spherocytosis.
