Abstract
This paper will first explicate the various elements of the language context and then discuss how readers and writers use this context to transact meaning. Using examples from two learning disability resource rooms, the importance of providing natural language contexts for oral and written language instruction will be explored. Finally, the role of the speech-language clinician in children's literacy learning will be discussed. Keywords
