Charge-discharge Mechanism of LiCoPO4 Cathode for Rechargeable Lithium Batteries

Abstract
The structure of ordered-olivine LiCoPO4 was identified by neutron diffraction measurements. A 4.8 V discharge profile was demonstrated using coin-type cells. XAFS and magnetic measurements indicated that the high-voltage plateau of Li1−xCoPO4 corresponds to the Co2+/Co3+ redox reaction.Keywords
