Abstract
Expts. designed to test the duration of inhibition, by excess iodide, of organic binding of I in the thyroid gland are descr. The inhibitory action of excess iodide on the normal rat thyroid is temporary. Inhibition lasted for about 26 hrs. Despite the continued maintenance of a high level of plasma total I (100-200 [mu]g. %), the formation of significant amts. of organic I was resumed after 26 hrs. Keywords
