From the New Republic's record of congressional votes it was possible to select 10 bills for the 79th Congress and 8 bills for the 80th Congress which gave consistent indications of "progressivism," evaluated in terms of the number of yes or no votes. Senators' scores correlated .82 from one session to the next, but were relatively unrelated to age. Regional and party differences were significant.
