A Classification of Malformations

Abstract
Due to limitations in knowledge of morbid embryology, a system of classifying malformations must be anatomical rather than aetiological, and should enable syndromes as well as single defects to be both recognized and classified. It should also be designed to facilitate the transfer of a description of each malformed individual to a punch card on which a specific punching position is reserved for each defect, so as to simplify analysis by both mechanical and electronic data processing machines. An account is given of a classification which is designed to meet these requirements.
