Abstract
Ventilatory acclimatization to high altitude has been discussed in a chronologic fashion, i.e. the acute, prolonged, and chronic or lifelong phases, and the integration of exercise ventilation as it relates to each of these phases has been outlined. Unanswered questions in each of these areas have been posed as fertile grounds for future investigation. Keywords
