Fabrication and Properties of a-Si: H Photoreceptor and Its Application to Laser Beam Printer

Abstract
A high sensitivity a-Si: H photoreceptor drum is fabricated using a capacitively coupled rf glow discharge (GD) system by doping boron (B2H6) and oxygen. The photoreceptor durm exhibits its maximum spectral sensitivity at 650 nm and enough sensitivity is still observed at longer wavelength range of 760–780 nm. Applying this photoreceptor drum to a laser printer using semiconductor laser diode (770 nm, 5 mW), a good hard copy is obtained with a resolution of 9.6 dot/mm and a printing speed of 20 sheet/min (A4 size) at an incident beam energy of 1 µJ/cm2.
