Abstract
The liquid crystal orientation on various surfaces were investigated by a method using the principle of chromatography, which is useful for observing the true orientation by eliminating impurities in the liquid crystal materials. It was found that pure liquid crystals aligned parallel to various inorganic flat surfaces. It was concluded from the results that experimental results of the molecular orientation reported by several authors were affected by impurities produced by the degradation of liquid crystal materials. Keywords
