Abstract
The search for markers that can predict the outcome in an individual patient with cancer or the response of an individual tumor to specific therapies is a major focus of cancer research. Despite these efforts, estrogen and progesterone receptors and the HER2/neu gene are the only molecular targets that are analyzed routinely in newly diagnosed breast cancers.
