Abstract
The local mode due to an isotopic impurity is used to study indirectly the lattice dynamics of the perfect crystal. Raman scattering gives twice the local mode frequency due to in LiD as 1879 which is in very good agreement with the calculated value of 1834 . The good agreement can be considered as a measure of the realistic nature of the model used for the lattice dynamics of the perfect crystal.
