Abstract
48 students were subjected to several sensory and social conditions to induce a pleasant feeling tone at one time and an unpleasant feeling tone at another. Subsequent to the induction of feeling tone, learning materials of 3 types, nonsense syllables, meaningful words, and a logical passage, were given to the students. No reliable differences between the efficiency of learning in the 2 states were found. These results are opposed to current statements of the law of effect.
