Abstract
A description of oak-hickory vegetation of a preserved tract in east-central Missouri [USA] is presented. Twenty-five 100 m2 plots were sampled and ordination techniques revealed 3 distinct habitat types: bottomlands, protected slopes and exposed south-facing slopes. A moisture gradient explains the variation in species composition and diversity associated with each habitat type. Evidence is presented which indicates that this previously disturbed forest has reached a mature state. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
