Abstract
Special stains for connective tissue and Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) positive material are frequently used in addition to hematoxylin and eosin (H&E). The authors have developed a new stain that differentiates connective tissue and PAS positive material while retaining sharp morphological detail in the same slide. Basically, a PAS stain is applied, followed by a modified hematoxylin, phloxine, saffron (HPS). With this method, connective tissue stains yellow orange; muscle, pinkish red; nucleus, blue to blue-gray; and PAS positive material, bright magenta. Keywords
