Abstract
The colonic response to feeding in a patient with the irritable colon syndrome is described. There is a marked increase in the muscle tone of the distal bowel with no effect on its phasic activity. This hypertonus appears to represent the primary mode of the gastro- colic response. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
