Abstract
An exact solution of the equations of general relativity is given which tends to Einstein–de Sitter at late times. The energy density is inhomogeneous at early times, and is singular on two spherical surfaces which may be related to the ‘‘bubbles’’ typical of inflationary universe models. Keywords
