Electrical resistance as a guide to thinning sugar maples

Abstract
The electrical resistance (ER) of the cambial zone of sugar maples (Acersaccharum Marsh), growing in a stand used for sap production, was measured with a pulsed electric current meter. Trees of relatively low ER grew faster than those of relatively high ER and produced sap with equivalent sugar content.
