Abstract
A pH-metric and spectroscopic (u.v.–visible and e.s.r.) study has been made of copper(II) complexes of glycyl-L-leucyl-L-tyrosine, glycyl-L-tyrosylglycine, and L-tyrosylglycylglycine at 25 °C and I= 0.2 mol dm–3(KCl). In dilute aqueous solutions the tyrosine-containing tripeptides basically display the properties of simple tripeptides in their interactions with the copper(II) ion and, independently of the position of the tyrosine, the phenolic hydroxy group in the side-chain does not play a direct role in co-ordination to the metal ion. Keywords
