Abstract
To the editor: The article, "Digoxin Metabolism in Hypoand Hyperthyroidism. Studies with Tritiated Digoxin," by Doherty and Perkins (Ann Intern Med 64:489-507, 1966) reported that hyperthyroid subjects have lower serum digoxin levels and hypothyroid subjects have higher levels than euthyroid subjects. With the development of radioimmunoassays for blood levels of the thyroid hormones and digoxin, relations between these hormones and digoxin may be examined in eumetabolic men; we have done this in 30 male hospitalized patients. Patients were admitted to this study if they: [1] had heart failure compensated by maintenance digoxin; [2] had received daily doses of 0.25 mgKeywords
