THROMBOTIC THROMBOCYTOPENIC PURPURA

Abstract
A case of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura was diagnosed before death and treated with ACTH. Interesting hematological findings included negative "LE" cell prepns.; failure to detect "immune type" antibodies in the blood by the serum, albumin, and Coombs'' tests; and the appearance of megakaryocytes in aspirated bone marrow that did not appear to be producing platelets. ACTH therapy had no apparent effect on the course of the disease.
