Abstract
Precise e.m.f. measurements, using hydrogen electrode–saturated calomel electrodes with liquid junctions, have been made of a number of buffer solutions. These e.m.f.s. have been used to calculate the pH values of the buffer solutions, corresponding to an operational scale similar to that defined by the British Standards Institute. Some of these values show significant variations from the current British Standard recommended values. Keywords
