Abstract
An identification of future engineering needs of compact high-power-density approaches to fusion power is presented. After describing a rationale for the compact approach and a number of compact fusion reactors, key technology needs are assessed relative to the similar needs of the conventional tokamak in order to emphasize differences in required technology with respect to the well-documented mainline approaches. Keywords
