Abstract
Feeding by Scolytus multistriatus (Marsham) is restricted to the family Ulmaceae. Although Loschiavo et al. reported (1963) that S. multistriatus feeds only on species of the genus Ulmus, others have observed it feeding on nursery-grown Zelcova serrata.3 Laboratory studies by Becker and Mankowsky (1965) also demonstrated that the beetles would feed on Z. serrata. In laboratory choice tests with freshly cut twigs, they found significantly less feeding on Hemiptelea Davidii than on Ulmus americana. No feeding was observed on Celtis occidentalis or Quercus alba. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
