The infrared spectra of aryl azides

Abstract
The fundamental and first-overtone azido antisymmetric stretching frequencies of 19 aryl azides have been measured. It is demonstrated that the splitting of the V(NS)as band is not due to the presence of conformers in solution, and probably does not involve ?hot? bands. Fermi resonance explanations of the splitting are suggested.
