Abstract
Carbohydrate tolerance improved or became normal in 13 of 14 nonobese, mildly diabetic patients aged 11-35 years during treatment with tolbutamide (I) over a period of 22 months. Normalization of the response to a glucose load as well as occurrence of fasting and postprandial hypoglycemia suggest insulin secretion as a mode of action of I in these patients. Keywords
