In patients with hypertrophy of the prostate the late results of the dilatation treatment a.m. Deisting and prostatectomy or transurethral resection are compared. –The two groups of patients are statistically comparable concerning preoperative local and general status. Not only immediate postoperatively, but also by reexaminations 7 years post-operatively the prostatectomy/transurethral resection procedures yield statistically significant far better results and far less complications than does the dilatation treatment.
