Abstract
Three old plantings of multiflora rose in Ala. and Ga. were studied to determine spreading habits. The ages of these plantings varied from 14 to 40 yrs. Roses were invading surrounding land at each site. Observations indicated that seeds are carried by water and birds. Plants did not become established where the soil was disturbed or the forage heavily grazed. Control will be necessary if multiflora rose is to be kept from spreading in idle land and unimproved pastures.
