Measurements of Membrane Resistance of Characeae with External Electrodes and Microelectrodes

Abstract
Measurements showed that the increase in membrane resistance which appeared after an insertion of microelectrodes into the vacuole was not registered by external electrodes but only by the microelectrode technique. An explanation is given in terms of a double high-resistance layer close to the cell wall.
