Abstract
This paper deals with the operation of a parametric transformer when both the input and output windings are connected to live busbars. The relationship between each core flux and the MMF's of the two windings is explained. Based on this relationship, the voltage equations of the device are integrated numerically to obtain the input and output currents and the power-angle characteristics. The effects of the phase angle "δ" between the two busbar voltages on the power flow, efficiency, power factor and harmonic currents are examined. A comparison between the experimental results on a small unit and those obtained from the numerical solution of the equations is also given. Keywords
