Abstract
A modified approach-avoidance conflict technique was employed in 2 experiments, each of which provided both behavioral and physiological evidence of 2nd-order aversive classical conditioning. These studies were distinguished for their use of heretofore unemployed controls, a different test procedure, and simultaneous recording of several test measures including a skin resistance response. The 2nd study, by use of an extremely confined conditioning chamber for both 1stand 2nd-order training, provided unambiguous evidence for 2nd-order classical conditioning as opposed to acquisition of an instrumental secondary avoidance response, a possibility not fully explored in 2 other recent attempts to demonstrate the 2nd-order phenomenon. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
