Abstract
Two cases of radiation sialitis occurring after therapeutic doses of radioactive iodine are reported. Sialitis was confined to the submandibular glands in one patient, whilst in the other both submandibular and parotid glands were involved. Measurements of salivary and plasma activity carried out after a tracer and therapeutic dose of radioactive iodine respectively are given. Some of the difficulties associated with the calculation of radiation dose to the salivary glands are mentioned. Keywords
