THE CONCEPT OF SELF AS EXPERIENCED BY PATIENTS WITH A TRANSPLANTED KIDNEY

Abstract
The concept of “Self” has both an immunological and a psychological meaning. Fifteen patients, on whom a kidney has been transplanted, from related donors or from cadavers, have been interviewed with regard to their psychological recognition of the kidney as part of their “Self”. The results are presented in a table and discussed.
