Abstract
Nifedipine inhibits calcium-45 net uptake and glucose-induced insulin release in rat pancreatic islets, without affecting glucose oxidation and calcium-45 efflux. These findings are compatible with the view that nifedipine inhibits the entry of calcium in the B cell, by interfering with the plasma membrane ionophoretic channels. Keywords
