Abstract
Tasting menthol evokes a cool sensation. In his Perspective, Clapham discusses new work published elsewhere that identifies a TRP ion channel, which is opened by both cold temperature and menthol. The channel is expressed in neurons of the trigeminal and dorsal root ganglia that receive sensations from regions such as the mouth and in the skin. Keywords
