THE TETANY OF OESTRUS IN THE PARATHYROIDECTOMIZED DOG

Abstract
There is no apparent change in the blood values for several inorganic ions and pH and CO2 of normal [female] dogs during the oestrous cycle. Tetany can occur in the parathyroidectomized [female] dog coming into natural oestrus in the latent tetany period with either a comparatively normal or low serum Ca. It appears that other physiol. changes are responsible for this type of parathyroid tetany.
