Abstract
Hamsters given the new penicillin temocillin, either orally or by injection, did not develop antibiotic-associated colitis, whereas animals given the control antibiotics cefoxitin or clindamycin developed the disease, which is characterized by marked hemorrhagic cecitis and high cecal levels of Clostridium difficile cytotoxin.Keywords
