Ceria-Based Anodes on a YSZ Electrolyte: Preparation and Electrochemical Performance

Abstract
Deposition of various intermediate porous metal or oxide layers and addition of MnO2 as a sintering aid has been investigated to obtain electrical contact and sufficient adhesion between porous Ce0.6Gd0.4O1.8 and dense ZrO2 with 8 mol% Y2O3 below 1200°C. The electrochemical activity of ceria-based anodes has been examined in a 3-electrode setup using wet hydrogen as a fuel gas.
