Abstract
Terminal characteristics of machines without saliency on either member are derived from the solution of Maxwell's equations in the air gap, using conductor configurations which may be present in actual machines. First, the harmonic current sheets are generated. Then energy methods are employed to formulate the equations of motion for both the electric and mechanical terminals. The formulation is general, with respect to both the machine construction and the number of harmonics included. Keywords
