Abstract
The energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analytical method can be applied to determine the concentrations of more than 40 different elements in particles on air filters without destroying the sample. The objectives of this chapter are to describe the principles and applicability of XRF to air filter samples, outline practical methods for its application, and identify examples for its use in air quality studies.
