XXI Tomography of Extracerebral Tumors of the Head

Abstract
Tomographic examination is valuable in the diagnosis and treatment of extracerebral tumors of the head. The jugular foramen in its entirety in one section may be seen from the subaxial view. Hypocycloidal tomography offers improved visualization over rectilinear tomography in the investigation of skull lesions. Tomographic findings are presented in cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsillar fossa, muco-epidermoid carcinoma of the left maxilla, and squamous cell carcinoma of the right external auditory canal. Tomographic examination is of particular value in order to: demonstrate bone destruction, demonstrate the limits of the lesion, and demonstrate vital structures in proximity to the lesion.
