Abstract
A standardized method of producing a segmental, deep, esophageal caustic burn was produced in 68 dogs, all receiving antibiotic therapy. A control group is compared with animals treated by bouginage, low dosage steroids, high dosage steroids, and a combination of bouginage and low dosage steroids. The lowest incidence of stricture following the burn occurred in animals treated with low dosage (0.1 mg/kg/day) prednisolone combined with bouginage. This publication has 19 references indexed in Scilit:
