Abstract
Summary Growth and food intake were depressed in rats fed a low protein diet to which a large excess of one indispensable amino acid had been added. The growth depression was alleviated if the protein content of the diet was increased or if the diet was supplemented with the limiting amino acids. Growth of rats fed a diet that was nearly adequate in protein was depressed when the ratio of the amino acid added in excess to the dietary protein content was the same as that required to produce an adverse effect in rats fed a low protein diet. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
