Abstract
The addition of electron parallel dynamics in the description of an inhomogeneous current‐carrying cylindrical plasma is shown to replace the magnetohydrodynamic continuum, associated with Alfvén waves, by a discrete spectrum. The spectrum of the resulting discrete modes is determined analytically and numerically. Keywords
